When working with the muscle isn't enough
Fascienated is my own approach to bodywork.
It isn't a single method taken from one teacher, or a massage with a fixed routine. I put it together gradually from different styles of bodywork I studied in Bali and the USA, and combined them with what I've worked with for years: somatics, breath, the nervous system, energy work and sensing the body from within.
The foundation is work with fascia and the deeper layers of tension. But I'm also interested in why the body holds exactly where it holds, and what starts to happen when it no longer has to.
What is bodywork?
Bodywork literally means working with the body.
I use touch, pressure, traction, movement, breath and conscious attention. Sometimes I work intensely and deep, sometimes very slowly and gently. I don't follow a routine. I watch how the tissue responds, where the tension continues, what changes in the breath and where the body begins to let go on its own.
So we may stay in one place for longer. Or discover that the place that hurts or feels tight isn't where the whole pattern begins.
The body doesn't work in separate parts.
The jaw is connected to the neck and chest. A shoulder can be part of a pattern that runs across the torso to the opposite hip. The pelvis, belly, feet and the way you breathe all shape how the whole body is organised.
Fascia. And what the body holds in it.
Fascia forms a continuous network of connective tissue throughout the body. When I work with it, I'm not only interested in mechanically "releasing" the tissue.
I also work with the physical and emotional patterns the body has developed over a lifetime.
Sometimes it's a jaw you clench before you notice. Shoulders that are always slightly ready to carry the next load. A belly that tightens automatically. A pelvis that won't soften even when there's nothing left to protect against.
And when the physical holding begins to ease, a different response may come.
A deep exhale. Shaking. Warmth. Tears. Anger. Laughter. A memory. A sudden sense of sadness or relief. Or no emotion at all, just a feeling that there's suddenly more room in the body.
None of it needs to be produced.
I don't look for a story behind every tension. I follow what the body brings on its own.
Choose where we go
Head · jaw · neck · shoulders
Upper body
Work with the head, face, jaw, neck, shoulders, shoulder blades, chest and ribs.
This is an area where physical tension often meets constant readiness, control, holding back and protection.
It may make sense if you know:
jaw clenching · tension in the face · a stiff neck · shoulders that can't drop · tension between the shoulder blades · a tight chest · the feeling that you never fully switch off, even at rest.
During the work, themes of control, responsibility, unspoken words, sadness, protection or the need to keep things under control may come up.
But sometimes the jaw simply needs to finally stop working.
Belly · pelvis · hips · legs
Lower body
Work with the belly, sides, lower back, pelvis, hips and legs.
These are places that can be very strongly protected. So I don't go in with force. I work with resistance just as much as with the place that's already ready to let go.
It may make sense if you know:
a chronically tight belly · a sense of hardness or guarding around the centre of the body · limited freedom in the hips · tension around the pelvis and lower back · legs that feel heavy or disconnected from the body.
On an emotional level, themes of safety, boundaries, fear, anger, sexuality, vulnerability, support or the ability to truly relax may come up here.
All work in the pelvic area is external. No intimate touch.
Full body
120 minutes
When we don't want to divide the body into upper and lower halves.
We start with what you feel most strongly, but we don't have to stay there. I follow connections across the body and work where the pattern of tension gradually leads us.
A full-body session gives room for the physical work, for any emotional response, and for the body to have time at the end to really take in the change.
It's the most complete form of Fascienated.
What you may notice after a session
A sense of more space in the body. A different position of the shoulders or head. A softer jaw or belly. Freer movement. Deeper breath. Warmth. Tiredness. Lightness. Greater sensitivity to your own body.
Sometimes the change is very physical.
Sometimes it's emotional.
And sometimes it's hard to name precisely. You just feel that the body you leave with isn't quite the same as the one you arrived in.

Upper body or lower body.
Or you come with a specific place or pattern you want to explore.
A good choice for a first experience of Fascienated, or for more regular, targeted work.

Full body or deeper work
Two hours let us follow the connections between several parts of the body, take our time over places that need it, and give room to the emotional layer if it opens during the work.
You can choose full-body work, or spend two hours going deeper into one theme.
Practicalities
Fascienated is for women and men.
You'll wear a sports top or sports bra and shorts, so I can see and follow the relationships between different parts of the body while the session stays comfortable.
Pelvic work is external only.
No intimate touch.
